This game simulates the battle between Task Force Ranger (Bravo Company, 3rd. Ranger
Battalion, 75th. Rangers Regiment; 1st. Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta;
U.S. Navy SEAL Team 6; and 160th. Special Operations Aviation Regiment, “Night Stalkers”)
and General Mohamed Farrah Aideed’s Habar Gidir militia, in the Black Sea Area of
Mogadishu, Somalia, on 3-4 October 1993. As well as enabling the battle to be replayed
as it happened, the game is designed to explore alternative scenarios, such as:
- What if Task Force Ranger had attempted to snatch General Aideed himself from the
notorious Bakara Market, deep in the Black Sea Area?
- What if a Black Hawk with 16 Rangers onboard had been shot down during a practice
overflight of the city?
The game focuses especially on the challenges faced by Task Force Ranger’s commander,
Major-General William F. Garrison - how to insert his men, secure the target, suppress
any opposition, then extract his men, all in the minimum time and with the minimum
of casualties.
The game is designed for solo play.
