This game simulates the campaign fought by the German 8th. Army, supplemented by various garrison units, to resist the invading Russian 1st. and 2nd. Armies, then to expel them from East Prussia, between 17 August and 14 September 1914.

 

The game focuses especially on the superior manoeuvrability, and the railmobility, of the German army in the face of the superior numbers of the Russian armies, especially if they are able to link up and present a common front.

 

The game is designed for 2 players.

 

Time Scale:  24 hours per turn

Ground Scale:  ~13x13 km./8x8 miles per hex

Unit Scale:  ~25-35,000 Russian infantry, ~20,000 German infantry or ~10,000 cavalry
